Luxury Hotels in Paris
For many, vacation is a time to open the checkbook and spend freely. There is nothing quite like the experience of a luxury hotel on a Paris vacation. Breath taking views, close proximity to monuments, and fine restaurants are just part of what you get when you choose to stay at a luxury hotel in Paris. Many offer pools, concierge service, art galleries, and large rooms. Amenities that don’t come without a hefty price tag.
How to Choose a Luxury Paris Hotel
Finding a luxury hotel is far easier than choosing what to see first in the City of Lights. In fact, many make their hotel decisions based on proximity to local attractions and restaurants. Like many metropolitans in Europe, visitors to Paris can easily explore many of the fantastic monuments on foot. The Latin Quarter, La Marais and Champs Elysees and Boulevard St Germain are the most talked about streets in Paris. A visitor can find endless cafés and brasseries in these areas as well as gorgeous parks such as the Jardin des Tuileries which offer a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Besides proximity, there are a several things to remember when choosing a hotel in Paris: location, price, and style.
Essentially anything within the city limits is accessible by the Métro or bus, therefore you should be able to get anywhere in Paris in 30-40 minutes under normal conditions.
If you are not fond of public transportation, or plan to make your hotel a base-camp where you will return often throughout the day, it’s best to stay in the 1st, 4th, and the north end of the 5th and 6th districts which are located closest to the Seine. Other hotels in the 2nd, 3rd, 7th, 8th and 9th are also relatively close to the center.
The further you are from the center of Paris (Ile de la Cité), the less expensive and less touristy the neighborhood will be. It is important to know exactly how close the nearest Métro station is, and whether it’s on one of the main lines 1, 4, 7 or 8 so to avoid multiple changes to get to the center.
A general rule of thumb is, the shorter your trip, the less time you’ll want to spend traveling back and forth to your hotel, so stay in a central location. For longer stays, save money and get to know the real Parisian atmosphere by staying outside the center.
Each neighborhood offers its own style and atmosphere. Many enjoy the Latin Quarter, but prefer to sleep in a quieter neighborhood. If activity and bustle is your thing, consider a hotel on a busy market street with chatty stall vendors and entertaining street musicians, or in a luxury hotel where you can see the Eiffel Tower or Opéra Garnier from your window.
If you crave the nightlife and plan on going out every night past the closing of the Métro (12:45am), you may want to choose a hotel close to your preferred nightlife area such as Le Marais, Grands Boulevards, Champs-Elysées or Oberkampf.
For €200 you will likely have all of the above, with additional space, larger beds, quality breakfast service, a separate concierge desk, possibility a restaurant or bar, and extras like a business center, fitness center, possible views of major monuments.
Spending an extra €275 and you can have all of the above in a designer luxury hotel; larger rooms with bigger TVs, larger beds, upscale bathrooms, 24-hour room service, a restaurant, bar, fitness and/or business center, baggage handler, hotel parking, meeting rooms, currency exchange, no-smoking facilities.
If the sky is the limit, starting at €400 you will get into the best hotels in Paris where you can expect Michelin restaurants with trendy bars, swimming pool and spa services, the utmost respectable service and the luxurious or contemporary decor and amenities.
With all of this in mind, eParis has assembled a list of the best Luxury Hotels in Paris!
